Movies Coming Out in 2018

There are a number of excellent films making their way to the big screen this Spring. There are a number of R rated films coming out, and a handful of children’s films that will be in theatres. We’ve listed some of the main headliners that you won’t want to miss.

Feb 9th

Clint Eastwood directed this action thriller based off of real events when three American heroes saved countless lives on a train to Paris. In August 2015, three military friends were riding a high speed train from Amsterdam to Paris, when they saw a terrorist about to attack. The trio sprung into action, and took down the terrorist before he was able to complete his mission. The three heroes play themselves. This movie is a testament to their bravery, and gives more insight into the actual happenings of that day. 

This is the last chapter in the Fifty Shades series based off of the novel trilogy series by E.L. James. We see Christine and Anastasia get married, but their relationship is still threatened by Jack Hyde.

  • Peter Rabbit: PG | James Corden, Fayssal Bazzi, Domhnall Gleeson

This cute little comedy is based off of Beatrix Potter’s classic children’s tale of a rebellious rabbit who tries to sneak into a farmer’s garden. Peter Rabbit and his friends get into tons of hilarious trouble as they try and steal as many carrots as possible.

Feb 16

  • Early Man: PG | Tom Hiddleston, Maisie Williams, Eddie Redmayne

This hilarious children’s comedy is set in prehistoric times when cavemen and women roamed the Earth. We follow the main character Dug and his sidekick, Hognob, as they defend their tribe against their enemy Lord Nooth and his Bronze Age City. This animated film was done by the same team that brought you Chicken Run and Wallace & Gromit.

March 2nd

  • Red Sparrow: R | Jennifer Lawrence, Joel Edgerton, Mary-Louise Parker

This movie is based off of the novel by Jason Matthews, Red Sparrow is about a young Russian ballerina who is recruited to join “Sparrow School”, which is a Russian intelligence agency. The ballerina is forced to use her body as a weapon to target CIA agents, but her mission threatens to expose the security of both countries.

March 16th

  • Tomb Raider: PG-13 | Alicia Vikander, Hannah John-Kamen, Walton Goggins

The Tomb Raider series is based off of the hit videogame. The original film, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, first came out in 2001 with Angelina Jolie. Tomb Raider is more of a prequel rather than a remake of the classic. In this film, you find a young Lara Croft who winds up on the same island that her father went missing on. She must push herself beyond her limits to survive.

March 29th

This sci-fi thriller is directed by Steven Spielberg. The movie is about a designer of the virtual reality world, OASIS, who dies, and releases hints as to where his fortune lays.  This modern-day treasure hunt sends gamers on an adventure to find the special Easter Egg that holds a great fortune.
